Coaching

Find courage through anything life throws your way.

Coaching is for you if you have a specific topic or problem that you need time-limited, present- and future-focused support and guidance with. Coaching sessions are offered in person in Durham, North Carolina and virtually, anywhere in the world. Learn more about my coaching specialties below. If you have a request for coaching related to something not listed among my current Services, feel free to reach out and ask about the possibility.

Please note that coaching is not the same as therapy. Therapy often goes deep into past wounds and patterns, can be long term, and the therapist is less directive than a coach. A therapist may also be using a specific modality. If you're currently experiencing a more high acuity time with your mental health, or are struggling with functioning, therapy may be more appropriate for now. During our coaching intake, if it's determined that therapy is more appropriate at this time, some referrals will be provided to you.

Life Transitions

Whether you’re embarking on a new academic or career path, stepping into your full identities, starting or ending a relationship, entering parenthood or becoming an empty nester, grieving any sort of loss at all, change can be both terrifying and exhilarating. Octavia Butler wrote, “change is god.” Whatever your situation, having a coach on your side can help you navigate this transition with more ease and confidence. Through reflective questions and exercises, I help ground you in your strengths and give you the extra nudge you need for motivation.

Parenting Trans & Gender Expansive Kids

Most of us didn’t grow up with models for healthy communication, appropriate boundaries, or how to repair ruptures in relationships, including friendships. If you’re ready to address a falling out with a friend or other loved one (both consenting to the process), coaching can help. First, I meet individually with each person. Then, we schedule an Intensive coaching session (typically a 2 hour session, or a series of three 1 hour sessions in one week). You deserve deep and close relationships; sometimes we just need support to make that happen.

High Conflict Divorce & Narcissistic Abuse Recovery

Did you have hopes for an amicable co-parenting relationship but found that’s impossible? Is your “high conflict” simply code for ending an abusive relationship and experiencing post-separation abuse? Other providers and professionals not getting it? If you’re like most people, the family court system is a whole new world to navigate with little information. I understand the experience and know how overwhelming it can be.  I can help you ground, strategize, educate yourself on what you’re facing, and more. A therapist will be able to help you on the healing journey.
